Music and words: instant entertainment

Bulk or plenty toys are not necessary for a baby below 12 months. Other play mediums like reading, singing, dancing with them are better methods, simple and tender activities for newborns.

Below are some recommended ways to go:

- Try making singing a daily routine by singing or humming the tone all they way as you change diapers, it could also be a poem you made up or known children poems.

- have fun while reading. Make it a routine to sit down every day reading to your baby, and also keep in mind that babies loves books not for reading but for play as they will always put them in their mouths trying to turn or flip pages.

- Advance to or Promote chatter. It will help your baby develop their vocal sense. Use this as the first step to create actual words, and Your baby will develop an ear for language as you guide her.

When do babies start recognizing their parents

It is possible that babies recognize their parents' faces within the first few days of their lives, but other studies suggest it may take as long as two months for them to do so. It will take your baby one year to develop her vision to its full potential. It won't take her more than 8 months to recognize you across the room.

THE FIRST THREE MONTHS OF LIFE

Your baby’s hand-eye coordination should be improving by now. At this point they are learning how to hold or grasp things. So toys that would be suitable for kids  at this point includes:

- Baby fabric "bracelets" (squeakers worn on the wrists or ankles)

 - indestructible wall attached mirror set up in a room, for your baby to gaze upon

-. Clothes or scarves with holes cut out of them, used for the game of peek-a-boo

 - If you can afford a play room filled with colorful fabrics, sky rainbow, hues and patterns, as this will be good

- Other baby toys, photographs, and soft (not plastic) plush animals with faces painted on them

FROM THREE TO SIX MONTHS

Your baby’s moving abilities, (using the hands and fingers) and also (using of the arms and legs), are maturing at this time. The sensations of moving their arms, fingers, and legs and the motivational feelings to sometimes carry out some actions with their hands are beginning to connect to their senses, so at this time some more toys will be good, Toys like:

1.       The “Heavy-duty shakers” is a good Idea.

2.       The “Invisible shawls” is also great.

3.       A big large and soft or balloon item made like doughnuts that can be held, played with or pounced on.

4.       Fabrics in pattern colors are also recommended.

5.       Toys that makes sounds, or that plays songs are also nice and better than electrical noisemakers. Be also mindful that your child’s ears are just developing and keep the sound volume down.

SIX TO TWELVE MONTHS

When do babies start interacting with toys?

Approximately six months

In infants who are younger than 6 months, they can interact with age-appropriate toys, such as shaking rattles, but they don't really start playing with toys the way they do after that point — knocking over blocks, rolling a ball, or snuggling with teddy bears, for instance.

Your baby will ultimately play with anything that moves or makes sound from that period of 12 months and above, that is the second year of their arrival. So in this period they will enjoyably play with toys and you also. If they can get the toys in their mouth, well they will with chances. When your baby is curious about something what they will do is to slam it on the ground or shake it to see it reactions (like what will happen with this item or what does it do, and stuffs like that).

These are also toys that are recommended at this time:

- Coloring stuffs, small boards or books

- small sized playing balls are also recommended

- Toy tricycles or military tanks that shoots sounds, made for babies of this age

- Floating or flying stuffs like boats, helicopters or playtime baby pool. The baby pool should be a regular routine as your child will even love it more than the other play recommendations.

- Be very sure that the toys you bringing close to your child is of his or her age by checking the label or manual.

- Your 8 – 9 months old baby will attentively engage with you in the play of reaching things, when you encourage or play battle him or her to reach for stuffs.

A Sense Of Belonging;

At this time your child knows her toys and stuffs that belongs to him or her, and at this period of time you and some close people around will be your child’s first friends. They will be more familiar to your child as playmates. You will also feel more closer and tuned into yourselves at this initial period. And your child will be more familiar to you who is his or her mother and will respond to you more responsively and actively and in various ways, even looking inside your eyes, turning to your face to give you attention when you sing to them a song or lullaby. Take not of some signs that may begin to pop, as your baby may turn her head away, or close her eyes, scratch her back or make tiring fussy noise, she may also scream, hiccup or fall asleep when ever they have had enough or need a break from the play or interactions. Take a break or make a pause when you begin to notice signs like these. But when he or she wakes up and wants to play, they may start looking at you intently or make a sound that you will understand that it means play time mummy! And you will notice that your baby's face is somewhat relaxed and his or her eyes are sharp.

Note Taking and Observation;

Every baby's eyesight at this age are beginning to sharpen and improve in long distance capture and color vision, but always still choose high contrast hues (such black, white, and red) in their environment others may involve but let the mentioned above be more surplus.

How to Use Play to Teach Your Baby;

   Try bringing before your baby an item that you are sure can be seen, from the distance of about 9 to 12 inches, and slowly move it in front of your youngster’s eyes. Move the object up and down, to the left and to the right also, and remember to do it slowly to see if your child would follow it with his or her eyes. Your little youngster will master this skill in less than a week while playing the game playing, and very soon you will notice he always follows your steps or your every move with his eyes as you move around your room.

The First Grip Forms;

With the practice of the above skill Your baby at this time, can now follow your gaze to an item and will try to get it. Also this helps in the improvement and coordination of the hands and eyes, and very soon Your baby will obviously begin to transfer objects or things from one of her hand to the other, even taking a break sometimes to put stuffs in her mouth.

How Can I Help My Baby Play?

1.     If your baby is comfortable, gently clap his or her hands together or stretch his or her arms (crossed, out wide, or over the head).

2.     Make your baby pedal like a bicycle by gently moving his or her legs.

3.     To engage your infant, shake a rattle or give him a favorite toy to focus on.

 Make Provision of two (2) or three (3) rattles for your baby and place them within easy or fit reach. And give him or her go ahead or permission to pick their favorite choice.

Now, naturally little babies are very inquisitive, and one favourable way they show this is by putting things in their mouth, especially their toys. Little babies also do learn things by trying to explore them. they check it use, what it does and it flavor, all gratitude and thanks to the nerve center developing in the mouth. The discomfort that comes from teeth development can begin as early as 4 months and in some babies as I have seen, it begins at 9 months or even at the 12th month, and some of them do help their self out by chewing of stuffs just to find relief from the discomfort. And so they will continue to put stuffs in their mouth even after this period and it may last all through the next 2 years.

Play Helps Babies to Learn;

        Make sure there are safe items to chew around your baby. Also take note or Observe how they stares at things, how they get it and how they finally puts it in their mouth to see what it is or what it does.

And so it is important to hot water clean their toys for the care of baby health.

Try laying your baby on her belly for some time, even if it's just for few minutes, let her play on this position at intervals for the whole day. You can be sure to use a child-safe mirror, a toy you know she likes, or try using your face to capture her attention from the ground and have her focus on you. She may cry, but try cheering her up and still focus on the goal. Roll her on her back to comfort her. try again later if you don’t succeed, but don’t give up.
